Virginia medical cannabis certification
Jiffy Doctor is accepting secure Virginia medical cannabis certification intakes. Virginia uses a practitioner-issued written certification rather than a separate state medical cannabis card.
- A licensed practitioner determines whether a patient has a condition or disease that may benefit from medical cannabis.
- Patients must be permanent or temporary Virginia residents and have a valid government-issued ID.
- A parent or legal guardian must consent for a patient younger than 18.
- An approved written certification may be valid for up to one year.
- At a licensed medical dispensary, the patient presents the valid certification and current government-issued ID.
- Virginia does not charge a state patient-registration fee.
Virginia recreational cannabis status
Virginia does not issue a recreational cannabis card, and Jiffy Doctor does not provide recreational authorizations.
- Virginia’s regulated adult-use retail market is not open as of September 14, 2026.
- The Virginia Cannabis Control Authority says regulated retail marijuana sales may begin July 1, 2027.
- The medical certification program remains separate from the future recreational retail market.
- Adults should use official state guidance for current possession, cultivation, sharing, purchasing, and public-use rules.
